Exploring coexisting phases in transition metal dichalcogenides: Frontier overview, synthesis methods, application scenarios and future prospects

In the past decade, significant progress has been made in the phase engineering of two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), allowing the control of various phases of synthetic TMDCs and the facile conversion between them. Recently, there has been a great interest in TMDC coexistence phases, which contain multiple phases in one nanostructured TMDC. By exploiting the advantages of each constituent phase, coexistence phases offer enhanced performance in many aspects compared to single-phase TMDCs .

Yu Ting's research group at Wuhan University published a review article in ACS Nano titled Coexisting Phases in Transition Metal Dichalcogenides: Overview, Synthesis, Applications, and Prospects , which comprehensively describes the latest progress and ongoing efforts in the synthesis, properties, and applications of TMDC coexisting phases. It aims to provide insights into two-dimensional material phase engineering to the scientific and engineering communities and contribute to the further development of this emerging field.
